UniFoil Progression 800 Carbon Foil Mast – Stiff Surf Performance Mast
Overview
More stiffness. More control. More confidence through turns.
The UniFoil Progression 800 Mast was designed by Erik Antonson to deliver a stiffer, more responsive feel for surf-focused foiling. Built for prone, tow, and downwind riding, it focuses on reducing mast flex to improve control, pumping efficiency, and response through turns.
Its reinforced profile at the fuselage connection is designed to increase stiffness under load, particularly for heavier riders and those using larger front wings. The vertical leading edge and non-tapered lower 40% of the mast create a consistent submerged profile intended to support predictable handling through turns.
The Progression also introduces a completely redesigned baseplate. With the mounting bolts positioned closer together, the design allows the mast to sit approximately 1.2 inches farther forward in the board tracks compared with the Katana baseplate configuration. A tapered transition at the mast connection is intended to reduce drag during takeoffs and touchdowns.
At 800 mm, the Progression offers a surf-focused mast length for riders seeking a balance of clearance, stiffness, and direct foil response.
Key Features & Benefits
-
Stiffened Fuselage Connection: A thicker profile at the connection is designed to reduce flex and improve response under load.
-
More Direct Foil Control: Reduced mast flex can help riders maintain control, particularly with larger front wings or higher loading.
-
Designed for Efficient Pumping: The manufacturer aims to improve pumping efficiency by reducing drag and enabling sustained flight with less mast submerged.
-
Vertical Leading Edge: Supports the mast's intended hydrodynamic profile.
-
Non-Tapered Lower 40%: Maintains a consistent section through the lower portion of the mast for predictable handling during turns.
-
Redesigned Baseplate: Closer bolt spacing allows approximately 1.2 inches of additional forward mast placement in the tracks compared with the Katana.
-
Tapered Baseplate Transition: Designed to reduce drag during takeoffs and touchdowns.
-
800 mm Mast Length: Suited to prone, tow, and downwind applications.
-
Protective Mast Cover Included: Every UniFoil mast ships with a protective cover.
-
Mounting Bolts Sold Separately: Source compatible hardware for your specific board and foil setup.
Stiffness for Surf Performance
The Progression was designed around a simple principle: reducing flex can improve response. Its thicker profile near the fuselage connection is intended to provide a more direct feel during pumping and turns.

Compatibility & Installation
Before purchasing, confirm compatibility with your UniFoil fuselage, foil components, board tracks, and required mounting hardware. Although the Progression baseplate is redesigned relative to the Katana, compatibility should not be assumed based on brand alone.
Mounting bolts are sold separately. Verify the required bolt type, length, thread specification, and installation torque with the manufacturer. Ensure all connections are secure before riding and inspect the mast and mounting components periodically for damage or wear.
