UniFoil Katana Carbon Mast – High-Modulus Carbon Foil Mast, 750 & 950
Overview
Inspired by the precision and craftsmanship of traditional Japanese swordmaking, the UniFoil Katana Carbon Mast was engineered for riders seeking exceptional stiffness, speed, and control.
Its distinctive construction combines an outer layer of high-modulus carbon with an intermediate-modulus carbon core, designed to balance stiffness with structural strength. The one-piece construction and slightly thicker profile compared with the UniFoil Race series were developed to reduce twisting and flex under load.
A taper-lock mast-to-fuselage connection helps minimize unwanted movement at the joint, while the slotted mounting holes accommodate compatible countersunk titanium hardware. Optional titanium wingnuts were also offered for riders seeking convenient setup adjustments.
The Katana was produced in two sizes to suit different foiling disciplines, from responsive prone surfing and performance winging to downwind riding and conditions requiring greater mast clearance.
This product has been discontinued and will not be restocked. This listing is retained for product reference and identification.
Key Features & Benefits
-
Hybrid Carbon Construction: Combines high-modulus outer carbon with an intermediate-modulus core, designed to balance stiffness and strength.
-
One-Piece Design: Engineered to reduce unwanted flex and twisting under load.
-
Performance-Oriented Profile: A slightly thicker profile than the Race series was designed to provide additional rigidity.
-
Taper-Lock Connection: Designed to create a secure mast-to-fuselage interface and minimize joint movement.
-
Slotted Mounting Holes: Accommodate compatible countersunk titanium hardware.
-
Optional Wingnut Hardware: Titanium wingnuts were available as an alternative for convenient adjustments.
-
Two Length Options: The 750 offers a shorter, responsive setup, while the 950 provides additional length and clearance.

Choose Your Katana Size
| Model | Weight | Intended Riding Style |
|---|---|---|
| Katana 750 | 2.03 kg / 4.48 lb | Prone surf, performance winging, and speed-focused sessions |
| Katana 950 | 2.40 kg / 5.30 lb | Downwind riding, larger waves, and choppy conditions requiring greater clearance |
Katana 750 — Compact and Responsive
The shorter Katana was designed for riders prioritizing responsiveness, reduced mast length, and a direct feel under load. Its smaller size suits applications where additional mast clearance is less important than quick response.
Original intended uses: Prone surf, performance winging, and speed-focused sessions.
Katana 950 — Maximum Clearance
Original intended uses: Downwind riding, larger waves, and demanding conditions requiring additional mast length.

Compatibility & Hardware
The Katana used a taper-lock mast-to-fuselage connection and slotted mounting holes designed for compatible countersunk titanium hardware.
Bolts were sold separately. Before using an existing Katana mast, verify compatibility with the specific fuselage, mounting hardware, and foil system. Do not substitute bolts or hardware without confirming the manufacturer's specifications.
