Unifoil Progression Foil Series – High-Aspect Wings for Beginner to Intermediate Riders, Surf, Wing & Downwind

Overview

The Unifoil Progression Series is the foundation of the Unifoil foil lineup, designed to make high-aspect foil performance more approachable across a wide range of rider abilities. Developed through the collaboration of Unifoil Chief Designer Clifford Coetzer and Erik Antonson of The Progression Podcast, the series was built around combining the efficiency and glide of a high-aspect foil with the predictable handling of a more maneuverable surf wing.

The result is a range designed around easy progression, low stall speeds, efficient pumping, stable pitch control, and responsive turning. Each size was individually developed rather than simply scaled, giving every wing its own balance of lift, glide, maneuverability, and speed.

The Progression performs across prone, wing, downwind, and tow foiling, with a broad range covering everything from small surf and light-wind conditions to larger, faster waves.

Key Features

  • High-Aspect Efficiency — Combines efficient glide and pumping characteristics with accessible handling for riders developing their foil skills.

  • Low Stall Speed — Helps the wing remain controllable at slower speeds, supporting easier takeoffs and longer glides.

  • Stable Pitch Control — Designed to maintain predictable pitch behavior across a broad speed range.

  • Responsive Turning — High-aspect dihedral geometry allows tighter, more controlled turns than the wing's efficiency might suggest.

  • Direct Rider Feedback — Provides a connected feel between rider and foil for improved awareness in changing water conditions.

  • Individualized Wing Design — Each size is developed independently to optimize its characteristics rather than simply scaling one shape up or down.

  • Easy Pumping & Glide — Efficient lift and low-speed performance help riders maintain momentum and connect sections effectively.

  • Broad Discipline Range — Suitable for prone, wing, downwind, and tow foiling.

  • Wide Condition Range — Designed to perform in everything from softer onshore conditions and beach breaks to cleaner reef and point-break surf.

  • Protective Cover Included — Every Progression size ships with a protective cover.

Progression Series Size Guide

Progression 100

The highest-aspect wing in the range, delivering a step toward greater speed, roll response, and efficiency while maintaining a broad usable speed range. Well suited to chest-to-head-high surf, faster-moving waves, and winging for riders who want to explore the performance end of the Progression platform.

Progression 125

A more performance-oriented option with a forgiving and predictable character. Compared with the 140, it emphasizes higher top speed, tighter roll response, and increased efficiency. Particularly suited to lighter or more experienced riders, towing, and faster surf.

Progression 140

The series' versatile all-around option, balancing low stall speed, stable pitch, pumping efficiency, glide, and turning performance. A strong choice for riders looking for one Progression wing capable of handling a wide range of disciplines and conditions.

Progression 170

A particularly accessible choice for new foilers, emphasizing low-end lift, carry, glide, and forgiving handling. Its combination of stability and turning ability makes it well suited to learning, progression, and a broad range of everyday foiling conditions.
